So since I’ve been connected to the ever-growing community of people with diabetes. Everyday I rack my brain for ways to give more, to make a tiny difference some how some way.  Diabetes is becoming so wide spread that now a days you either have it or love someone who does.  What can we do? How can we spread more awareness, and push the word that you need to know your numbers!!!

This was the thought process that crossed my brain highway yesterday and after reading a blog post from one of my inspirational pwd mommy bloggers Cherise, (DiabeticizeMe) I couldn’t help but think that I could in some small way give back, or just try to push awareness to encourage everyone to have their blood sugar tested, and KNOW YOUR NUMBERS!! I read last night that over 6 Million people in the US alone have diabetes and don’t even know it…did you read that right? 6 M-I-L-L-I-O-N! How is this possible??

Well not knowing and understanding the signs, and heading them.  Too many people have/had warning signs, but simply ignored them before sometimes it’s too late.  Well I don’t want to just preach a word here, because that I’m not.  But it got me thinking.

What if we could all wear something that encouraged others to know where they stand with their blood sugar.  What if we could (stylishly of course ) wear a tee that expressed the importance of knowing your numbers and encouraging others to do the same?  And what if at the same time that ‘badge’ gave back to this community?  And I’m completely aware that this is nothing new, but this is my way of giving.  The more people that ‘push’ awareness the more it has to help.

So we hope to be launching some cool, comfy tees that reflect just this.  Once we get all the protection stuff complete, we’ll share and push this initiative.  I’m so excited about it and my hope is that you will help us push this so very important initiative.

So I’ve been ‘talking’ about the new messengers for oh what 4-5 months now?? Well until we worked out some design element kinks and got the pricing points figured out, we are now working on the fun stuff. The fresh design element of the whole collection!  Yup the ‘switch-able’ designer flaps, that will with the flick of your wrist (well a bit more than that) will transform your new diabetes messenger into whole new bag!!

Why buy one bag, get sick of the way it looks,  go searching for another [expensive] bag that will stylishly hold your diabetes supplies and whatever else you need in a day?  Well you now won’t have to! You can grab your Switch Me Messenger ‘body’ and then pick from an ample array of colorful, stylish and bold flaps to satisfy your style sweet fancy*  And for this new collection we will include styles for guys, gals, little guys and little gals. Even the style savvy parent who like many others, is the main supply transporter for their little one(s).

You start with a blank black or white canvas and you can doodle, draw sketch till your hearts content. For all you creative types out there who can never really satisfy the need for change, or who just can’t find the exact form of expression!

Here we are a brand new year – 2009 and geez where did 2008 go? Don’t we always say that when the new year starts? Where did the year go?  Well during this time of year of resolutions and things we say we’re gonna do and then forget about by February, I’m stepping up and saying no more!  I’m taking the time to enjoy my family and really understand what it means to be a great mother and wife.

Although my company is very important to me, my family is first in my life and this year I’m gonna stop to smell the sweetness of having two little boys who are rambunctous, trying, smart, endearing and loving.  So there ya have it, my resolution.  Sounds simple but it’s such a big deal I thought I should share it.

But don’t think for a minute that Stick Me Designs is going to hold back, because this year we’ve got even bigger plans for the company with more goals and driven for success more now than ever.  With our new kid-inspired pump accessories and new collections on the drawing/designing tables things are about to get crackin’.
