{Designing for Diabetes}

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Ok I’m super stoked about this contest, it’s up my creative alley and is being hosted by very proactive Amy Tenderich of DiabetesMine.  I’ll post the link, but bottom line if you’ve got an idea to improve on the product aspect of diabetes and you’re willing to submit it via video or movie you’ve got a shot. The contest opens up today and runs through May, so get those thinkers out now and get to submitting. And hey pass this along, it’s got greatness written all over it*

{Todays Follies and Nice-ty’s}

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Ok so keeping with my new mission of sharing a little more and involving my readers more here is what is happening in my world today.

*My youngest son Ace slept through the night again (this makes twice now) this is huge! He’s only 7 months old and I know this too will pass, but I’m enjoying the extra bit of z’s at night. This leads to a great morning (in theory)

* I had to request to return some fabric today…it is gorgeous as always but the weight just isn’t right for our glucose meter carrying cases. I wish I was more crafty and could think of a way to appropriately show this fabric off because it is fabulous. It’s a wonderful hue of reds, greens and pink. Like strawberry fields.

*My husband over the weekend put up shelves and cubbies for me to keep organized and it’s just what I needed.  I have troubles at times with keeping an organized office space and well the shelves are a big help.  He can be so handy around here sometimes.  So here is a glimpse of my ‘work space’, can you tell my favorite color is Yellow??

So I learned today that a good nights sleep is a moms best friend, and that organization makes for a production work week, and dealing with a 2 year old who is almost 3 is made so much better because he’s potty trained *yay*

{Taking the blog on a slightly different path}

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

First I must thank those of you who have been reading our blog and following our progress and ups and downs since we began on this journey last October, it’s been one heck of a ride wouldn’t you say?

But anyway we’d like to veer the blog in a slightly different direction.  Stay with me for a minute…what we’re thinking is that we absolutely love connecting with our customers and our browsers, and we really love it when we can truly get to know them and they us.  So we’ve been getting some very good advice and have been brainstorming on ways to really bring you in and share with you what is going on with us and the company. A way where you can share your ideas, thoughts and feedback and what you’d like to see in the future with our products.

And what we’ve come up with a some very good ideas that we think you’ll like. We won’t give away our goodies just yet but you’ll know them as we fine tune things and get them rolled out.  But here is a taste: ‘Fabric Fridays’- Vote for your favorite, be rewarded (ooh gifts..*yay*), ‘Behind The Design’- What really goes on to get the final design to you(some designs have history behind them),‘I’m Just a Girl’- I’m a mom, an entrepreneur and a wife and I’m learning as I go…(eek scary :~) ‘Stick Me Speak It’ – You all have so many fabulous ideas we need to share them publicly because it’s hard to keep track (the good, the bad, and the ugly…well maybe).

Those are just some of the ideas we have but we’ll get to the rest as we think of them and get your opinions on other ideas we have.  So it our hopes that you all can come along for our ride, because we’re going to stick with this and hope you’ll stick around to see where we go. (c’mon I’m a corny kinda gal…give me a break)

We at Stick Me Designs feel it is our important duty to ensure all of our style savvy customers have the option to be responsible when it comes to test strip disposal and put an end to throwing used test strips directly into the trash (for shame), into the bottom of your handbags (not you right?) or into your pocket…hey your hand goes in there!

So we’ve come up with a stylish and functional accessory…Introducing the Bio Flip by smd.  They’re stylish, responsible solutions to your disposal issues when you’re on the move.  They come in 3 different sizes and they are all handcrafted to be fine little of works of art to boot, featuring beautiful designer fabrics.

Just wanted to show you another peek into the newest fabric choices we’ve decided on, by showcasing them as Bio Flips.  These carrying cases in this fabric could be ready by June or earlier.  Below that is the swatches of the next collection that will be ready by early next week*

We’ve also been hard at work to give you the biggest selection in our newest stylish accessory the Bio Flip.  While our Beta Testers are hard at work assisting us,  we’re selecting fabulous fabrics and materials to dress up disposing of your test strips.

{Ditchin’ Testing Strips in Style}

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

bio flips

C’mon now you didn’t think we could neglect those bio-hazard test strips either did you?  Of course not, we’re stepping up the whole idea of medical necessity with our next accessory called ‘Bio Flips’ by SMD.

We’ve had so many of our customers request a special place to keep those pesky test strips once you’ve tested your bs’ so we thought about it and ran some ‘tests’ actually we’re still doing that but we’ve come up with a possible solution.  Bio Flips will be the stylish answer to storing your bio-hazard strips until you can properly dispose of them.

Our Bio Flips are small compact and can easily slip into a pocket, our stylish Stick Me Designs carrying case or a purse. They’ll feature one of a kind designs with a quick flip-top opening where you’ll drop your strips and lancet tips in, and that’s it, safe, stylish and secure until you can properly get rid of them. You can use them for up to 90 days and then choose another design, we’ll keep the collections fresh and fun.  *Ooh Yay*

They’ll be available at our boutique for $6 or 3 for $15
