Now Accepting ‘Stick Me Seekers’…

Sunday, November 25th, 2007

We love hearing that our customers are willing to assist us in reaching other style-seeking diabetics.  And we’ve created a program just for you. It’s called the Stick Me Seekers program.  Here’s how it works.

We’re looking to get brochures or flyers into the offices of endocrinologists and specialty medical centers or set up accounts with them to sell our bags to their patients.  If where you go to be seen would be accepting of having our brochures in the lobby, or if they would like to sell our bags, you just let us know.  Give us the contact person, their number and we’ll give them a call.

If we set up an account with them and they sell our bags you’ll receive a Stick Me Seeker code. This code will allow you to receive 15% off any bag you purchase for a full year!!  New styles, upcoming styles, every style 15% off.  We truly appreciate our wonderful customers and this is just another way to say ‘Thank You’ for all you do for us!

Interested…contact us and put Stick Me Seeker in the message box, or in your subject line of the email, and we’ll get back to you ASAP!

{Chronic Style Babe}

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

Battling an illness or a disease doesn’t have to be grim, bland and boring. You gotta know that when you’re diagnosed with something like diabetes, fibromyalgia, asthma or anything that won’t go away with Tylenol, you’re not alone. Those wave of a million emotions are not just happening to you.  There are others out there who have been where you’re at right now, who have had those same feelings you’re having right now.  And who have came to the shiny conclusion that you know what I’ve got this, but this doesn’t have me!  Granted things won’t always be caviar and peaches but you can look at the brighter side of things once in awhile and enjoy life to its fullest.  I’d like to guide you to a couple of ladies who are doing just that. They’re dealing with a chronic illness(es) but are still out there connecting with others just like them. And they’re doing it with poise, style, carisma and flair.

{Jewelry That You’ll Want to Wear}

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

In my research for getting the most information I could about bags for people with diabetes I also came across the problems some people face with wearing medical ID jewelry.  Now because I too create(d) jewelry this peaked my interest, mainly because not only should be thew jewelry look fabulous it still needs to serve a purpose.  So I thought I’d find some great jewelry that people with diabetes would actually want to wear and that would still alert someone should you be experiencing a high or low and are unable to communicate.  So I put a necklace together just for kicks and the other is a hemp style that I think is very different available at Hope Paige.  If you find some non-traditional style jewelry you’d like to share or you’ve found, leave a comment so others can find it too.

{I had to Brag @ this Customer!}

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

Well today I received a great email, it really brightened my day. It was from one my customers Jen.  She was so happy with her Denim Delight bag that she blogged about it and even included a picture, find it here. It’s posts like this that make what I’m doing so very worth it.  I enjoy the idea of what my bags bring to style-starved diabetics and people who are just

tired of toting around a very ugly and boring bag.  What can I say my customers do really Rawk!!! :)

{Sweet *Candy* Treats}

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

I always enjoy presentation. No matter what I’m presenting, whether it was a written report, a task given to be done, or when it comes to delivery my handcrafted jewelry. Presentation should never be an afterthought, it should speak in volumes just as what you’re presenting does.

So when we launched SMD I knew that when customers opened the shipping bag, there should be something in there that speaks to them…and when I decided to wrap each bag as a *sweet* piece of candy I knew it would be a cute touch to the dilemma of people with diabetes.

One of my Sweetest Customers yet had this to say about her bag after receiving it:*Candy Wrapped*

*******
The glucose meter bag arrived yesterday. I did not want to open the package. It was wrapped fancier than any birthday present I have received in years.

The fabric with flowers is beautiful. It’s also water-resistant which is great for a messy person like me. It’s a bit bigger than the bag that came with my meter. That’s good too, because the original plain black one was too small.–Susan

Aww now this is what makes my struggles everyday to run a company all by myself so worth it…Did I Tell You That My Customers Rawk?*

{Our Customers Rawk!}

Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

If you haven’t already you should stop by our website Stick Me Designs. We’re on a mission to finally get rid of the dreadful black nylon bag that so many people with diabetes have been dealing with to carry their meter testing supplies in.

Although I’m not Ms. Trendy or anything I love to add my own style and personality to most things in my life.  The glucose meter bag was no exception.

If you’re unfamiliar here’s a quick synopsis… Being diabetic you have to carry around a meter and various supplies to monitor your blood glucose levels through out the day. This means that no matter where you go, where you are, you have to have these things with you at all times. This in turn means having something to carry these supplies in…and here’s your dilemma.  You’re a stylish, hip modern young gal, woman, teen or even guy and you’re stuck carrying around a very bland, very depressing nylon bag for your supplies. I mean the act of testing your blood sugar is in itself a very un-stylish thing, but your carrying case doesn’t have to follow suit.

In comes our bags. They’re functional, they’re stylish and they can compliment many different personalities.  We’ve gotten fantastic feedback from our customers already and we’re braggin’ about them already. View their fantastic comments over to the right::——>

{World Diabetes Day}

Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

Today around the world people are understanding and learning about the fastest growing disease in our country.  Diabetes.  It’s a disease that is growing so rapidly that it seems almost uncontrollable.  But diabetes is something that we can learn more about and try if we can prevent it or control it.  It doesn’t have to be a disease that just takes over.  Diabetes is not just hitting the US it can be found lurking in almost every country in the world, with some people not even knowing they have it.  So today we should reflect, and think about and pray for those who are dealing with this menacing disease and those people who have loved ones that are.

Can I Get a Side of Style with my Diabetes?

Monday, November 5th, 2007

This blog is about my findings about this disease and how I used my diagnosis as a way to channel my feelings and anxiety about it.  Even though I no longer struggle with this disease it is still very much a part of my life.  I’m still learning how I can prevent myself from getting type 2 diabetes, and dealing with my diet, and with my weight loss after having my son.

But all in all I’ve used my diabetes as a way to reach others with diabetes, I’ve began on a venture to bring style and function to testing your blood sugar so as to maybe bring in some color, personality and spark.  It’s not a cure but it’s a way to deal with it better… through style.
