{Stick Me Tees - Humorously Educating the Naive}

How many times as a diabetic have you heard a friend or even a stranger say “hey should you be eating that? I mean because you’re a diabetic?” Or how ’bout this one, “so did you get diabetes because you ate tons of sugar? Yup you’ve probably heard these and countless other comments from maybe well-meaning folks, but would care to not.

How fabulous would it be if maybe you could say something without really ’saying’ anything at all. What if you could educate the many people you see everyday with a t-shirt that educates people about diabetes. Or what if you could be brutally honest without offending anyone?

Stick Me Tees are here for you to do just that!  While there are many funny and cute tees for cancer awareness and other notable causes you don’t too often see tees for educating or informing others about diabetes.  And with so many people being diagnosed or loving someone close to them being diagnosed I had to wonder, what gives? Why isn’t anyone trying to speak their mind about diabetes, or trying to educate people with a smartly phrased t-shirt?

So with the help of my wonderful Facebook Fans, I’ve come up with some tees that are sure to start pushing a message of humor, education and maybe just a bit of sarcasm all in good fun and all with a definite purpose. To give you a voice and to be heard! Check out our first designs!

{Where in the World is SMD?}

Well we’ve been MIA, dontcha know! So I wanted to check back in with my blog readers and give you the latest scoop. Well lots of family stuff has found it’s way into my blog, business, social time. My youngest son fractured his little wrist. Poor lil guy’s only 3 and he’s been so good about it.  We had to take him to patient first and they put this tiny little cast on his arm, and now we’re scheduled for a orthopedics follow up this week to see if it is a continuing break or just a buckle fracture.

And then my hubby had to leave for a while for the Navy, which is always so hard because then I have to run  everything and that in most cases means that my ’social’ stuff for SMD get’s put on the back burner, but rightfully so I think. My little guys needed me and I happily put them first.

So now that we’re working to getting back to normal, I’m chiming in to let you know what’s been going on here.

We’ve been invited to casting calls for two ‘mompreneur’/ inventor shows one from ABC, and the other from TLC! Yeah I know right two?? Go figure, so in between filling orders, tending to injured little ones, dinner, laundry, web stuff, work and a zillion other things I’ve been putting together casting videos on why I HAVE Need to be on these upcoming shows!  Just an appearance would be a huge boost to the SMD awareness and that would be a huge blessing.

So yup that about sums it up. Thanks to all of our new customers who have found us~ Please help spread the word about Stick Me Designs - The place for modern, stylish diabetes accessories*

{It’s been 5 months in the making but…}

smm
After all my blabbing and the “I’m so excited” hoopla I’ve been going on and on about and draining your ears and eyes with, our diabetes messenger bags and D-Mates are finally here in all their complete glory.

Yes folks the last component to our Switch Me Messenger bag the D-mate clutch arrived today and it couldn’t have come at a better time.  And I can personally attest to all the painstaking work our contractors were busily doing, at times working into the wee crack of dawn hours to help us get these babes out to you guys.

I’m so greatful for all that they have done for us, and that I can now share what we’ve been working on for so long with you.  A stylish, modern and of course functional bag that can totally change the way it looks just by ’switching out’ the designer flaps.

D-Mate clutchAnd because it is anyway, a messenger bag for pwd, the D-Mate Clutch is what will set our messengers apart from other diabetes bags. Not to mention that once you buy your Switch Me Messenger, you’re D-Mate clutch is included and all you have to do then is grab some flaps.  Which I will tell you now that while there is only 4 available currently, we have over 21 designs lined up to be trickled out — gotta keep you thirsty for more and coming back!

What we’ve set out to accomplish when designing this messenger was to create a diabetes bag that could:

1) We wanted our messenger bag to be useeful to many different people thriving, living and loving somone with with diabetes. Like parents of little diabetics, busy errand runners, daily commuters, corporate motivators, and/or anyone who wants a bit of modern style with their diabetes messenger bag.

2) A bag that could be used by both men and women with the right designer features and elements. Hence the idea to switch the flap to allow a masculine look or a feminine look.

3) And lastly (but not really) a way to stretch your budget a bit so that you can keep your bag fresh and full of life without scouring for a costly bag every time you get a crazy whim to do so.  One that will satisfy all of your needs to keep your supplies organized and always close at hand, but look good while doing so.  It also needed to be easily luggable(is that a word?) when completely full but not look like you’re carrying the kitchen sink, when in reality you just might be.

We think we’ve accomplished these very important points that people with diabetes have expressed to us over the past year and a few more we can’t think of now, but are sure you’ll let us know once you get one for yourself.

So enough with the gibber jabber. Go look for yourself!

{One ‘green’ step forward}

With so many creative ways to go green we figured we would try to
incorporate some of those ways into our company mission.
The first step isn’t a huge one but it is a step in the green direction.
We will be retiring our cellophane wrapping of our cases, to wrapping
them in gorgeous re-claimed paper ribbons!  We loved the look so
much that we thought we’d share the first round of cases being
shipped out this week to some lucky customers.  So each case is
still ready to give as a gift or ready to keep for yourself, just in a
greener kinda way.
